To assess hydrogen applications, markets, and project potential in India and globally, Haryana-based Shell India and Ohmium International, a green hydrogen firm that designs, produces, and deploys PEM Electrolyzers, are working together. Both the sides are looking to establish collaborative working groups as part of the collaboration to evaluate potential from the technical, commercial, and safety aspects. An alternative to customised electrolyzers that is safer, modular, adaptable, simple to install, and easy to maintain is offered by Ohmium’s special interlocking modular PEM electrolyzers. By creating the most competitive options for the production, storage, transportation, and distribution of hydrogen to final consumers, the partnership is poised to enhance Shell’s objective to support the development of a global hydrogen economy, the companies claim. “We’re thrilled to collaborate with Shell to explore green hydrogen opportunities and solutions worldwide. Shell has demonstrated tremendous ambition to become a net zero carbon business by 2050– we believe that green hydrogen is a critical component of that transition,” said Arne Ballantine, CEO of Ohmium International while adding, “We look forward to working with Shell to explore all the opportunities our electrolyzers enable.” Earlier this month, Ohmium International collaborated with a leading provider of on-site energy generation systems, Spirare Energy to generate green hydrogen at the NTPC NETRA Campus. Spirare Energy will manage the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) of the project while Ohmium will provide the hydrogen electrolyzers to Spirare. Additionally, Ohmium International closed $45 million Series B financing in a round led by existing investor Fenice Investment Group with participation from current major investors and new investor Energy Transition Ventures also. The funds were used in Ohmium’s rapid growth plan to quadruple hydrogen manufacturing capacity from 500 MW annually to approximately two GW by the end of 2022. The company has research and development facilities in the United States and India, with manufacturing operations in India.
