New Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV Makes Global Debut

Maruti Suzuki has lifted the curtains off its newest SUV, Grand Vitara. The new model will rival Hyundai Creta and will replace the ageing S-Cross crossover. Grand Vitara will be one of the first in its segment to come with a self-charging electric hybrid variant.

Grand Vitara will come equipped with a hybrid badging on the boot lid. The awaited model will not only get the option of drive modes but also a dedicated EV mode. This may help it run electric for a certain range. This is the first time in a Maruti car that we also get to see a fully digital instrument cluster of the model.

The SUV will be produced at Toyota’s Bidadi based plant in Karnataka. Suzuki may export the new endogenic Grand Vitara to select international markets. The new model can be booked online or at authorised NEXA premium dealership network on payment of a token amount of Rs 11,000.

Key Features

Grand Vitara will derive its power from a 1.5-litre petrol engine with mild-hybrid and strong-hybrid motors paired with manual and automatic transmissions. It comes with a 101bhp engine capable to produce a 136.8Nm of torque. Transmission entails a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. The hybrid model’s AllGrip all-wheel-drive system offers 4 driving modes – Auto, Sand, Snow, and Lock.

The brand new Maruti Grand Vitara will come with digital instrument console, Suzuki’s patented AllGrip AWD system with drive modes and a hybrid powertrain.

The digital instrument console teaser reveals a full-colour display in the centre, along with a fuel gauge on the right and a charge mode indicator on the left side. While this will be a feature of the electric hybrid version of the SUV, the mild hybrid version may receive a slightly different unit.

The specifications of the new Maruti Suzuki includes split LED headlamps, a new grille with a single slat and chrome studded inserts, body-coloured ORVMs, a black roof, contrast-coloured skid plates and roof rails, wrap-around LED tail lights and two LED light bars on the boot lid, Grand Vitara lettering, a panoramic sunroof, and several others.

Launched As The Most Fuel Efficient SUV In India

Grand Vitara ranks highly on fuel efficiency at almost 28 kmpl with a hybrid powertrain of 1.5 litre. The dualjet petrol engine with 1.5 litre capacity will allow a mileage of 21.11 kmpl as per Maruti Suzuki. It is currently touted as the most fuel efficient SUV in India.
