MSEDCL To Set Up 2,375 EV Charging Stations in Maharashtra By 2025 By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Thu, Jun 23rd, 2022 Highlights : Under the new policy, a total of 2,375 electric vehicle charging stations will be deployed in the state by 2025 with 1500 stations across Maharashtra The state government is offering financial incentives to the players for setting up EV charging stations MSEDCL has also come up with a mobile app called ‘PowerUpEV’ that provides complete information on the current status of the EV charging facilities In the midst of rising electric vehicle adoption, Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has announced the setting up of 2,375 EV charging stations across the state of Maharashtra by 2025. Of the 500 EV charging stations proposed in 2018, 13 have been built across the state. Currently, work is in progress in 49 electric vehicle charging stations. Of this number, 10 will be installed in Navi Mumbai, 17 in Pune, 6 in Thane, 6 in Nagpur and so on. Recently, the state government has also approved the Maharashtra Electric Vehicle Policy-2021. Under the new policy, a total of 2,375 electric vehicles charging infrastructure will be deployed in the state with 1500 stations in Brihanmumbai city group, 500 in Pune city group, 150 in Nagpur city group, 100 in Nashik city group, 75 in Aurangabad city group, 30 in Amravati et al. Select highways of the state will also be fully equipped with EV charging facilities. MSEDCL has been appointed as the nodal agency to provide EV charging infrastructure for greater adoption of e-mobility. The state government is offering financial incentives to the players for setting up EV charging stations. The state has made a provision of Rs 40 crore for 15,500 charging facilities. The private players who are installing charging facilities will be given priority by MSEDCL in terms of power supply. Customers can also book the available time for EV charging. The App will give information about the distance from the current location and the nearest alternative charging station.
