MG Motors Witnesses A 21% Growth In Sales In First Half of 2023 By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Fri, Jul 21st, 2023 Highlights : MG Motors makes two electric models- MG ZS and MG Comet to cater to the electric mobility segment. The British automobile firm also boasts about its other models like Hector, Gloster and Astor. British automobile company MG Motors announced selling 29,000 cars in India in the first half of 2023. With this, the firm claimed to have registered a growth of 21 percent on a Year-on-Year (YoY) basis. It was in contrast to the total sales of its cars in the first half of 2022. During the first half of 2023, it witnessed a total sales of 24,000 units. The automobile company is known for its Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) like Hector and other brands like Astor, Gloster and others. It also has ventured into the electric mobility segment with its brands like MG ZS. In May, it also launched another flagship EV model named MG Comet. The company has now planned to ensure that 25 percent of its total sales should come from the electric segment. Its EV version of MG Comet, which was launched this week, has three distinct variants of its recently unveiled smart electric vehicle, the MG Comet EV—Pace, Play, and Plush. The firm also roped in Bollywood actor Janvi Kapoor to campaign for this brand. MG Motor India has its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Halol in Gujarat. It has an annual production capacity of 1,25,000 vehicles. It claims to have introduced several ‘firsts’ in India, including India’s first Internet SUV – MG Hector, India’s first Pure Electric Internet SUV – MG ZS EV, India’s first Smart EV for Urban Mobility- MG Comet, India’s first Autonomous (Level 1) Premium SUV – MG Gloster and MG Astor- India’s first SUV with personal AI assistant and Autonomous (Level 2) technology.
