Kazam Partners With Yuma To Add Battery Swapping Model

Kazam Partners With Yuma To Add Battery Swapping Model Ashok Jangid, Head of Business (South-West), Yuma; Paras Shah, Co-founder and COO, Kazam; and Deepak Nanwani, Head of Revenue and Operations, Yuma, during the launch of the Yuma-Kazam battery swapping partnership in Bengaluru.

Indian EV charging solutions provider Kazam has partnered with Yuma Energy, a joint venture between Magna International and Yulu Bikes, to integrate battery-swapping infrastructure into Kazam’s Park & Charge (P&C) hubs across India. The initiative is aimed at improving convenience and operational efficiency for commercial electric vehicle users.

Nationwide rollout begins in Bengaluru

The collaboration, which kicked off at Kazam’s Mahadevapura Park & Charge hub in Bangalore, will allow users of Yuma’s partner OEMs to quickly swap out depleted batteries for fully charged ones, significantly reducing vehicle downtime.

Kazam, which provides both hardware and software solutions for the EV ecosystem, currently operates 60 P&C hubs across 10 states, servicing over 3,000 vehicles daily. In addition, the company manages another 200 hubs in collaboration with major brands such as Zypp and BigBasket, spanning 81 cities. These locations are primarily used by two- and three-wheelers in the e-commerce and last-mile logistics sectors, where rapid battery turnaround is critical.

Launched in 2023, Kazam’s Park & Charge model offers dedicated, safe charging infrastructure along with rest and refreshment facilities for commercial EV drivers. Since their inception, these hubs have delivered over 1 GWh of energy, enabling more than 22 million green kilometers and contributing to reduced emissions in urban logistics.

Yuma brings scale and speed to battery swaps

Yuma Energy, one of India’s largest Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) providers, said it is working to make mobility accessible, affordable, and carbon-free through energy-as-a-service offerings. The company has completed over 20 million battery swaps and enabled more than 800 million green kilometers.

“This partnership builds on the synergies between the two companies to develop a strong ecosystem for the E-mobility industry. Kazam’s Park & Charge Hubs, with their robust electric power infrastructure, will play a pivotal role in accelerating the deployment of our advanced battery-swapping stations, bringing faster and more convenient energy solutions to EV users,” said Deepak Nanwani, Head of Revenue & Operations at Yuma Energy.Muthu Subramanian, GM & MD of Yuma Energy, added, “Partnering with Kazam allows us to expedite the establishment of new Yuma stations, effectively catering to the rapidly growing user base of Yuma. This collaboration ensures we meet the increasing demands with efficiency.”

“We’re thrilled to join hands with Yuma,” said Paras Shah, COO and Co-founder of Kazam. “This partnership aligns perfectly with our mission of decarbonizing last mile deliveries. By integrating Yuma’s battery swapping modules within Kazam’s Park and Charge hubs, the transition to green has become that much easier for any fleet operator or e-commerce company.”
