Bengaluru-based automotive company Orxa Energies launched its ambitious electric sports bike ‘Mantis. The company claimed the e-bike has a range of 221 kms with a single charge. The product is priced at Rs 3.6 lakh. 

The firm said that over 85% of the Mantis is designed and developed by the Orxa team and Indian vendor-partners. Orxa was founded in 2015. During the launch of the electric bike, Ranjita Ravi, the co-founder of the firm, said that Mantis was Orxa’s flagship product. She said that Mantis series bikes are silent but aggressive. Ravi said that between June and September, around 100 bikers had already tested its efficiency before the launch. 

Prajwal S, another firm co-founder, said that the vehicle has aesthetic panels with bio-inspired elements. He said that it was the lightest vehicle in the segment. He also said that Orxa Energies already had a presence in the aerospace and defense sector. As per the firm, it used an aerospace-grade aluminum frame for the bike. 

The specifications of Mantis claimed that the e-bike weighs around 182 kg and has a ground clearance of 180 mm. It has a peak power of 2.5 kW. The company also offers two sets of chargers, which can be either mounted on the wall or portable. 

The conventional battery chargers of Mantis take five hours to charge from zero to 80%, whereas its Blitz charger takes 2.5 hours to charge from zero to 80%. It also said that Mantis allows a maximum speed of up to 135 km/hr. On the other hand, it takes 8.9 seconds to reach a speed of 100kms/hr. 

According to the firm, when the automotive company based in Karnataka started working on e-bikes and doing its research and development and the adoption of electric vehicles were slower. However, with the passage of time the pace of adoption of EVs have increased with increased demand for electrified two wheelers. The company is harping on the demands from sports bike enthusiasts to routine users of two wheelers to adopt its ambitious e-bike series.
