Job Description

  • The new SEAM organization integrates Safety, Environment & Asset Management activities, with a broad geographical footprint, which will support Shell’s business & assets around the world.

    The VP TAO will be accountable for maximizing integrated business value across the organization. Technical Asset Operations (TAO) is a key enabler for the accelerated delivery of Shell’s Asset Management System and will help us to reach our ultimate potential in Downstream Manufacturing, Integrated Gas and Upstream. TAO provides high quality and cost-competitive technical resources who are not physically present at site yet are an integral part of asset teams delivering value through end-to-end SEAM Standards work processes.
  • The role is expected to provide detailed job plans for planned maintenance activities including site preparation, material requirements, rental equipment requirements, manpower and resources with the appropriate task sequencing necessary to allow for the efficient scheduling and execution of maintenance work. Primary interfaces include the Maintenance Team Leads and Turnaround Supervisor, Field Supervisor, Operations, Engineering, Trade Specific Specialist and Schedulers.
  • Coach and mentor process in UP/IG for Equipment – processes and tools. Processes include Turnaround Management/support, Preventive maintenance Optimization, Work packs/Work Preparation etc.,

Purpose & Accountabilities:-

  • Perform Complex Work Preparation activities for Work Orders requiring Subject Matter Expertise in the
  • Rotating Equipment Discipline.
  • Plan and support execution of critical rotating equipment like
  • Gas Turbine replacement
  • Gas compressor replacement
  • Compressor bundle replacement
  • Generator replacement
  • Reciprocating pumps/compressor replacement
  • Minor & major overhauls of different equipment
  • 4000, 8000 hrs. engine checks
  • Extend/plan support for planning, preparing, and identifying the correct trouble shooting steps for rotating equipment problems along with detailed steps & spares required.
  • Lead the overall planning and coordination tasks of complex Rotating Equipment Preventive and Corrective maintenance.Provide detailed procedural job steps and identify and coordinate 3rd party and/or construction needs for orders with support activity requirements.
  • Identify and requisition required materials/services to facilitate repairs at the asset..
  • Identify production and/or POB impacts-adhere to budget limits, seek platform leadership/finance approval as needed-adjust start date based upon needs of the asset/constraints.
  • Acts as the first point of contact within the Work Planning team to address questions that arise during work planning, either technical or ways of working concerns.
  • Comply with and adhere to all SEAM-Maintenance Execution process requirements.
  • Consult Technical Engineering Support for procedure or work planning guidance and seek concurrence as needed.
  • Responsible for the creation and modification of corrective maintenance task lists.
  • Ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution of maintenance work offshore on GoM floating assets by performing activities necessary to make maintenance work executable.
  • Ensure that the asset stakeholders are fully updated as to the marine maintenance planning status of the asset’s work orders (PM & CM)
  • Develop maintenance work planning for an asset in accordance with the SEAM ME (local eME Planning Process) including:
  • Identify and provide detailed procedural job steps, craft type and count required, materials required, and duration to execute each job step (consulting SME’s, advisors, engineering for technical input/ clarification on scope).
  • Include minimum required components to a work package determined by the QA QC guidance by engineering discipline.
  • Identify individual job plan SIMOPS impacts (production impacts, POB impacts to IAPS, etc.) by utilization of System Condition.
  • Identify MOC needs and communicate to correct SEAM work process via Waiting on Engineering MOC, and MTO users’ statuses applied to work order (ex. MTO Fit4 entry).
  • Adhere to budgetary limits, seeking approval by OMC.
  • Adjust work order start date based on identified planning constraints (ex. Materials lead time) and rough-cut schedule work into most efficient approach considering SIMOPS needs of the asset.
  • Raise needs for stock/MMR updates to warehouseman.
  • Coordinate and optimize 3rd party needs and mobilization movements (ex. batching work orders for vendor to execute).
  • Update PM maintenance items based upon completed job feedback to ensure the tasks involved are accurate and that the estimates of resources are correct and updated for future PM tasks.
  • Serve as QA of work planning across planning team validating the completeness of work prep before. Provide coaching to peers.
  • Interface with expeditor to request materials to ship from GoM Distribution Centre to platform in Materials Status Meeting, interface with warehouseman for materials validation on the asset.
  • Look for Continuous Improvement/ Efficiency Improvements.
  • Create, utilize, and modify CM Task Lists (CMTL’s) where required.
  • Understand the cause of the problem and determine the scope of the activity to return the equipment back into service.
  • Submit Material Master Record requests/edits.
  • Submit PM Redlines – Criteria 1 Changes
  • Seek, obtain, and action CM feedback, perform RCA’s.
  • Process work order request forms for planning/execution handover from the MTO process, at discretion of the MTL.

Dimensions:-

  • Adhering to safety by ensuring all work plans are planned in the safest manner possible with a focus on goal zero. Hazards are identified through field visits and mitigated with an emphasis on safe field execution.
  • The role will be reporting to TAO Team Lead Maintenance and will also functionally report to the respective
  • Asset MTL / OMC/Planning Supervisor.
  • While preparing major maintenance work, the role will heavily interface with Asset Operations, Discipline
  • Engineering teams, offshore and onshore Maintenance, HSSE, Supply Chain, and 3rd party vendors/contractors. The role is expected to integrate the planning and scheduling of multi-discipline, preventive and/or corrective maintenance work, and occasionally include minor modifications.
  • Routine check and analysis of KPIs and PIs ensuring Gap Analysis (If required) to sustain them.

Skills & Requirements:-

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 10-12 years’ experience with maintenance planning in Oil & Gas /Petrochemicals, preferably 3-5 years in an Offshore Facility. Hands on experience on Gas Turbines & critical rotating equipment maintenance required.
  • Field experience in preparing, integrating, and managing major maintenance activities (usually multi-discipline work) for various high speed rotating equipment like Gas Turbines, Compressors and Pumps (Hands on experience on Gas Turbines).
  • Must be able to demonstrate an expert level of knowledge in maintenance Rotating Equipment Planning and rough-cut scheduling.
  • Industrial/field experience Operations and maintenance of major equipment
  • Good level of knowledge of maintenance scheduling and estimating principles/techniques- Understanding of resource planning and resource allocation techniques.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices.
  • Excellent Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer skills – PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook,
  • Skilled in SAP PM & MM Module.
  • A good understanding of the Upstream business and how it works.
  • Ability to engage and effectively communicate at all levels inside and outside Shell and within diverse cultural settings.
  • Strong people skills, ability to challenge and ability to build internal and external relationships based on trust and to integrate across multiple functions.

  • Willingness to Work in UK/USA or any other shift timings depending on the asset supported.
