Tech Lead – Mechanical

Responsible for manufacturing support, minor product development, and design support of blowers, motors, pumps, and gearmotors. Will work closely with local manufacturing vendors and remote design resources, to ensure efficient and quality production. Focus is on manufacturing process development, in conjunction with design efforts, to ensure products are manufactured to efficiently, cost effectively, and within design intent.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:-

• Oversee new product introductions and on-going production support with local vendors, remote design team, quality assurance and manufacturing engineering personnel.  Drafts and follows up on all documentation including engineering specifications and manufacturing procedures.
• Oversee the development of production and process control information, prepare technical analysis, recommend manufacturing methods and processes required to meet design objectives on new or improved products and/or processes.
• Participates and assists sales and engineering in the design of new products related to manufacturing and equipment requirements.
• Support design for manufacturing activities and process specification definition throughout product development lifecycle.
• Responsible for piloting processes in support of manufacturing launch.
• Support identification and qualification of suppliers for specialty materials, finished goods, and equipment.
• Support root cause investigations and manufacturing process improvements.
• Support/perform design reviews, FMEA’s, risk/hazard analysis, and establish technical requirements.
• Utilize Lean manufacturing methods to reduce costs and improve quality.  Provide technical assistance to manufacturing departments, engineering and materials planning to eliminate unnecessary operations and clarify process instructions.
• Directs and executes operational excellence projects and other projects aimed at meeting division objectives.
• Keeps abreast of trends and improvements in the field of engineering and manufacturing through appropriate papers, publications and outside affiliations.  Advises other areas of the company concerning his/her own areas of expertise.
• Work with global located and multi-functional teams to achieve project goals.
• Ensure adherence to quality processes, compliance to regulatory standards as applicable.

Qualification And Experience:-

• Bachelor’s degree in applicable engineering field (Mechanical, Industrial, or equivalent) required; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum 10 years relevant experience within an international manufacturing environment.  Must have experience in the fields of process and project engineering supporting new product development and delivering new manufacturing processes.
• Experience with electro-mechanical devices highly preferred.
• Ability to work within a cross-functional, multi-location team is essential, as well as the ability to exert influence across international borders
• Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills required
• Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize with the demand of multiple tasks/projects
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office required
• Understanding and proficiency in ASME Y14.5 GD&T
• Experience with various software applications (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) required
• Strong communication skills across all levels of the organization required
• Fluent English required and multi-lingual preferred

Additional Characteristics:-

• Ability to travel domestically and internationally required
• Prefer strong manufacturing experience with extrusions, casting, winding, and other motor-related manufacturing processes
• Typical work environment is office setting, however does require visits to production environments
