Supplier Quality Engineer

You will be working as a Supplier Quality Engineer and will be the part of Electrification Business Area Smart Power Industries division based in Bangalore North, India. In this role you will be reporting to Supply Quality Manager and will be responsible to manage operational supplier quality, on or off-site, ensuring the supplier qualification and development processes are executed in full. Drive both corrective and preventive actions with the suppliers, based on maturity and performance. Manage the supplier Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Responsibilities:-

• Coordinate with Suppliers on quality non conformances and ensuring that immediate resolution and root cause analysis is done as per ABB processes and support the Supplier Chain Management process. Monitor supplier non-conformance performance including incoming/process/customer claim, and lead to drive root-cause analyses, corrective actions; control non-conformance and cost of quality, to ultimately ensure the product quality meet the requirements by means of quality and lean tools.
• Increase supplier quality awareness and drive “Zero Defect” mentality within the supply base. Lead & Support Supplier in terms of quality training “problem solving methods etc”. Support incoming quality control activities to ensure reliability of control processes (control plan, control method etc.)
• Plan and perform audit / assessment and follow up of Root Cause Analyze (8D etc.) or any improvement activities process standardization, waste elimination etc. Provide constructive feedback on Supplier Performance, Evaluation, Assessment Process and Work with sourcing team for the new supplier assessment and qualification for outsourcing parts.
• Establish a structured approach to improve suppliers’ quality system management and quality reliability, drive consistency and adherence to quality procedures and act as key person for supplier monthly/Quarterly performance evaluation (e.g., supplier PPM, FPY, OTD, customer PPM).
• Work closely with commercial, engineering and manufacturing teams to eliminate any barriers that may affect the quality and delivery of sourced components. Operationally lead and fast execute upcoming supply issues like quality issues, late deliveries, non-conforming products.
• Develop and support targeted suppliers to achieve conformance with ABB requirements and continual improvement in quality, e.g., reduction of variation; sustainability, service/delivery performance and support the special process e.g., Plating, Resistance welding, Pad printing, Heat treatment. Support/lead L6S improvement project.

Qualification And Experience:-

• Diploma/Degree in Electrical/Mechanical engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of experience.
• Familiar with quality tools (PPAP, MSA, FEMA, SPC, 8D…), and experience to use them for the quality control and problem solving.
• Fast trouble-shooting skill and problem-solving skill.
• Should be conversant with SAP.
• Good Know-how to solve complex issues, ISO 9001:2015 awareness, internal auditor and proficient in Statistical process control and tools.
• Preference to have Lean six sigma Green Belt certification.
• Should have good Communications & presentation skills. Excellent level of English required.
