Senior Mechanical-Power Group Engineer

As Senior Mechanical cum Power Group Engineer you are responsible to Design and Development of mining equipment’s, create CAD models/ manufacturing drawings, BOM for sub-systems used in mining equipment’s and to ensure the quality of drawings produced by Design Engineers. The job is about providing engineering support to various PDCs within Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions in Current Product Engineering, New product Development Engineering and Order based Engineering activities.

The main responsibilities are as follows:-

• Collaborate with product and engineering departments to understand company needs and devise possible solutions.
• Keep up to date with the latest technology trends.
• Communicate results and ideas to key decision makers.
• Involved in design & developing underground mining equipment’s.
• Optimize joint development efforts through appropriate database use and project design.
• Creation of BOM / ECN for release of drawings for production
• Perform design calculations for design verification
• Develop sub-system designs and make component selections
• Perform engineering related activities like supplier interaction, field visits
• Provide engineering support to sourcing / production teams
• Potential for calculating the cumulative Power requirement of sub systems and arriving at the required Engine Power
• Optimize the power calculation & suggest for cost saving
• Creative thinking should lead to applying Patents for the Company

Your profile

You have a university degree in Mechanical engineering / master’s in mechanical engineering or another relevant field (or equivalent) and between 8-10 years of experience into Mechanical Engineering Design and Development. You have a solid track record of designing, developing Mechanical engineering solutions. You have the needed experience with relevant we see are some of the following

• Selection of suitable engine for the equipment requirements / flame proof environment.
• Involved in engine subsystem interface (torque converter, transmissions, cooling systems).
• Basic knowledge of Hydraulic systems and its understandings, Hydraulic circuit reading.
• Design and Development of mining equipment’s in line with the requirement of country safety standards.
• Describes applicable mechanical engineering and technical area and its instruments/methods/processes.
• Reviews and recommends improvements of working methods/manuals/instructions for processes within mechanical engineering.
• Interacts with others, also outside own team, in matters regarding mechanical engineering.
• Expands the knowledge base within mechanical engineering.
• Contributes to long-term strategy in mechanical engineering.
• Drives the organization to expand the technical knowledge base within mechanical engineering area Sandvik-wide.
• Uses computer-based tools (NX, Teamcenter, SAP, AutoCAD) to design or modify the design of a product.
• Builds three-dimensional models with basic materials.
• Works as a member of a team to design a complex prototype.
• Applies tools and techniques for converting product requirements into a machine design.
• Produces concepts for machine design changes within own product area.
• Knowledge of International Standards pertaining to material and design processes.
