Job Description

The purpose of the Regional Support Consultant role is to serve as a pivotal link between various stakeholders within the African region. They would facilitate and support seamless communication, coordination, and collaboration with the National Focal Points from the member countries in Africa. This role is essential for supporting the National Focal Point and the Regional Program Head on all program management activities and streamlining operational processes and ensuring that initiatives align with ISA’s regional strategic goals. S/he will support the Regional Program Head by leveraging the regional knowledge and administrative expertise within the renewables. The incumbent will enhance efficiency, contribute to strategic decision-making, and drive the successful execution of program that promote rapid energy transition through facilitating the deployment of financial resources, upscaling projects through innovation, and through institutional building.

Role Responsibilities:-

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between National Focal Points (NFPs), key ISA personnel, ministries, vendors, and external partners to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Manage the flow of information in a timely and accurate manner to facilitate effective decision-making.
  • Oversee project calendars and coordinate the scheduling of meetings to optimize team efficiency.
  • Support mission travel arrangements in accordance with ISA guidelines, including preparations for Assemblies and Conferences of Parties (COP).
  • Prepare and deliver comprehensive reports on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis to track project progress and outcomes.
  • Format and edit information for internal and external communications, including memos, emails, and presentations, ensuring clarity and professionalism.
  • Identify and engage with relevant stakeholders to develop and implement strategies for identified projects, including assessing capacity-building needs, establishing institutional frameworks, and identifying financing mechanisms to mobilize both public and private capital, such as risk mitigation instruments and blended concessional finance (Solar Finance Facility – Africa).
  • Organize and facilitate meetings, accurately take minutes, and follow up on action items and outcomes as required.
  • Conduct baseline assessments through secondary research and stakeholder consultations and hold bilateral meetings with ministries to evaluate current solar deployment, assess electrification status, and identify geographical hotspots for mini-grid and solar rooftop deployment, including load profile assessments.
  • Proactively manage critical issues, providing support and developing solutions to enhance the project identification and implementation process.
  • Advise beneficiaries on solar-related opportunities, challenges, and issues, while organizing conferences, training sessions, and capacity-building workshops as necessary.
  • Assist in developing, approving, and signing Country Partnership Agreements and Country Partnership Frameworks for collaboration.
  • Identify best practices and lessons learned from projects and initiatives, contributing to the development of knowledge products that align with overarching project goals.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Africa Regional Head to support the overall mission and objectives of the organization.

Qualifications and Experience:-

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Energy Sciences, or a related field from a recognized institution or university.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Program/Project Coordinator, Administrator, or in a similar role within the energy, renewable energy, climate, or environmental sectors.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Proven track record of effectively liaising with external stakeholders and building strong working relationships with ministries and senior government officials

Languages & IT skills:-

  • The role demands a very high level of writing and verbal communication skills. As English is the official and working language of the Organization, excellent command of both written and spoken English is required. Knowledge of other languages (i.e., French, Spanish, and Arabic) would be advantageous. The role demands substantial writing and verbal communication skills. Satisfactory skills in ERP, ICT implementation project management systems/software, Outlook, MS Office products, and experience with the various ERP systems required to manage this role is required.
