R&D Team Lead – APC

You will be working as R&D Team Lead – APC (Advance Process Control) and will be part of Process Automation Business Area for Process Industries division based in Bangalore, India. In this role you will be reporting to Global Product & Technology Manager and will be responsible for supporting strategic corporate technology direction and future product/software/solution architecture. Initiating and driving technology, software, product or solution development using in-depth technical expertise in a specific area or a broad range of skills in a technical or product field. Managing or coordinating development projects or activities of substantial impact to the business. Acting as the first line contact in R&D/SW development/Product engineering for in-depth product or technology related issues

Responsibilities:-

• Identifying, evaluating, and executing R&D plans for Advanced Process Control (APC) and process optimization solutions portfolio within process industry digital business line for global process industries customers
• Working directly on development tasks, providing technical leadership, coordinating with other resources and creating high quality products within the defined schedules and budgets
• Responsible for leading, developing and coaching the local development team
• Working with product portfolio managers to define scope, features and estimating for new projects, digital project implementation Advanced Process Control (APC) software products and planning project activities with local and remote teams
• Capturing customer requirements, market and competition information in advanced process control and process optimization domain
• Providing technical support to regional teams, local units and ensuring availability of support and training material for relevant resources in R&D, support, engineering, marketing and sales as required
• Initiating and sustain sharing of best practices and standardized technical solutions within PA-PI (Process Automation – Process Industry) as well as with other business lines in ABB

Qualification And Experience:-

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering / Computer Science / Software Engineering or related technical field
• Minimum 12 – 15 years of experience in design and implementation of industrial controls software solutions preferably in APC and process optimization domain
• Proficient in Control Theory, Model Identification & Optimization algorithms
• Hands-on experience with programming languages or tools e.g., Python, R, MATLAB platform, preferably interacting with industrial process data and fully conversant with agile, scrum methodology
• Application domain knowledge in process industries such as mining, cement, pulp & paper and other continuous and or batch process
• Excellent communication skills and ability to influence both internally and externally
