Project Engineer – Std Engineering (Legislation and certification)

To drive the activities of product development in the Engineering Department at Dapodi Plant (Pune), we are looking for the Project Engineer Std Engineering who will report to Engineering Manager OFA. Project Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring and closing the projects. Achievements of project objectives agreed upon in advance within framework of time and budget and with the required quality.

We are also seeing increasing demands of export machines development in PC Dapodi. In order to meet this customer requirements, it is very much important to understand different legislation and certification requirements of different countries. So this position will also take a lead in development of this competence in PC Dapodi and help NPI teams to develop products complying to respective standards for those countries.

Main Responsibilities:-

• Design and develop Air compressors as specified in Master Specifications.
• Be part of an engineering team to develop new products based on the design from the division to follow-up and further design/localize the products currently in production, against the committed time, cost and quality requirements.
• Be part of Engineering Team, which has the ambition to be excellent in designing and manufacturing Atlas Copco compressors
• Focus on cost reductions and lead special cost reduction projects as decided in the OFA PCM.
• Make VK and PK costs transparent for all products produced in Dapodi Plant. Concentrate on consolidated cost pictures.
• Take the lead to expand the export business out of India and lead these export projects in close cooperation with OFA Division in Antwerp.
• Work closely together with sourcing department for designed parts.
• Concept creations in 3D environment and EBOM management. Defining layout, and defining product architecture on EBOM
• Releasing all engineering drawings and specifications through system.
• Analyse the critical components of the machine and draw the specifications in design phase.
• Execute the design work in the framework of the Atlas Copco guidelines.
• Follow and document the design status as specified in NPD process.
• Take initiatives and bring in creative ideas to control and reduce the cost of new and existing products.
• Active participation in PTM, TCM for NPD, production issues and field issues.
• Co-ordination with Airpower teams are necessary and should able to run projects with divisional requirements.
• Independently establish and define project requirements with respect to product legislation requirements as defined in master specification.
• Manage new requirements on product legislation from stakeholders during the project.
• Act as a single point of contact to liaise with external certification agencies to understand the requirement and create technical dossier in-line with the requirements
• Interact with division on recent guidelines for product legislations and follow CT Product Legislation on regular basis
• Represent the PTM for all certification related activities for all NPI projects
• Act as a single source of knowledge and information on product legislation and certification.
• Work closely together with sourcing department for certification activities performed by supplier
• Maintenance of technical file and all related mandatory documentation
• Take initiatives to provide new knowledge and provide training to team

Educational requirements:-

• Engineering Graduate – Mechanical Engineering
• Relevant technical Post Graduation / Post Graduate Certification from competent authorities will be added advantage
• Relevant certificate program on CE certification/UL/ML/CCC is an added advantage

Knowledge and skills:-

• Good knowledge & work experience on country wise regulations (approvals) such as ISO/API/CE/ASME/CE/ UL certification for USA and Canada/ML and CCC certification for China
• Good knowledge on:
  • Machinery Directive,
  • pressure equipment directives,
  • low voltage directives,
  • electromagnetic compatibility,
  • radio equipment directive,
  • RoHS – Restriction of Hazardous Substances – Directive
  • Noise directive,
  • Pressure vessel directive.
  • ML and CCC certification requirements
• Good BPCS / ERP knowledge.
• Designing and application knowledge of Screw / Piston compressors.
• New Product Development in line with the Atlas Copco group, CTP process.
• Strong technical knowledge of engineered gas compression systems and installations with delivery effectiveness and time scale.
• Customer focus and Strong results orientation.
• Good communication skills in English language (verbal and written)
• Solid understanding and mature user of O365 and digitalization tools.
• Able to work independently with mechanical/electrical CAD drawing software (AutoCAD and Inventor)
• Able to plan and organize effectively with the right sense of urgency.
• Customer focus is must.

Experience requirements:-

• Minimum 5-7 years product design and development experience in mechanical engineering.
• Proven experience on OFA products (Oil screws, Oil Free screws, Turbo machines, Pistons machines)
• Should have good knowledge of Atlas Copco products, CtP process.
• Should possess a good knowledge of manufacturing & qualification processes for compressor parts.
• Experience to work within the Airpower organization in Antwerp is a big asset.
