Project Engineer- Secondary

The Project Engineer – OPC will be a member of Linxon IN OPC-Chennai Engineering Team and will contribute towards the effective operation of project unit.

The Project Engineer – OPC will work on project/Tender specific activities assigned to the OPC group along with skilled team on a wide range of international T&D substation projects. Individual contributor using prior theoretical learning or knowledge of methods and technologies to execute work assignments using established solutions.

The position provides design for engineering discipline across multiple engineering projects within the OPC. Complete the assignments on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects, cost-effectively and in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards. Highest quality standards are applied, and safety requirements are taken into consideration.

Key Areas of Responsibility (KARs):-

• Evaluates, selects and applies standard techniques and procedures to perform engineering assignments. Provides technical support for installation and commissioning activities. Prepares project documentation within one’s scope of deliverables.
• Develop the tender engineering deliverable in short time period with quality
• Prepare all technical documentation for the equipment specification as input to the purchase requisitions
• Preparation of Single Line Diagrams.
• Preparation of Protection SLD showing relays and meters.
• Preparation of Protection Logics & Interlock diagram.
• Review of Vendor drawings and documents (technical vetting of Control & Relay panels, Auxiliary System).
• Experience of preparation of control and relay panel schematic diagrams will be add an advantage.
• Basic Knowledge in Substation protection system Distance Protection, Differential Protection (High Impedance and Low Impedance), REF Protection and O/C & E/F Protections etc
• Calculations CT & VT Sizing, Battery Sizing calculation, Cable Sizing, Etc.
• Auxiliary Power System design like Low Voltage AC Panel & DC Panel requirements
• Preparation of signal list.
• Preparation of Cable block diagram.
• Preparation of Cable Schedule & termination schedule.
• Basic knowledge with Primary Equipment, Bay Controller Units /SCADA/RTU are essential.
• Engineering of Control and Protection solutions for high and medium voltage switchgears (GIS and AIS)
• Knowledge of Mimic diagram, Alarm system, metering system, SAS etc.
• Responsible for obtaining customer approvals for the designs and drawings.
• Contribute to the Up-to-date design issue log
• Safety – Understand and follow Linxon OHS procedures and guidelines
• Prepare all technical documentation for the equipment specification as input to the purchase requisitions

Other Position-Specific Characteristics:-

Looking for Secondary Engineer who has experience in Europe & Gulf utilities.

Experience Required:-

• 6-7 years’ experience in secondary electrical engineering
• Any site experiences would be beneficial

Competencies / Skills Required:-

• Bachelor’s Degree / Master’s degree in Electrical / Power Engineering.
• Sound knowledge on Secondary engineering of AIS & GIS transmission and distribution substation up to 400kV.
• Knowledge on standards for substation engineering is desired.
• High attention to detail and quality.
• SW-Engineering
  experience in CAE tools add an advantages
• MS-Office: Word, Excel, Visio
• Experiences on Control and Protection Devices e.g. from ABB, Siemens, AREVA, GE

Interfaces:-

• Engineering Team / Project Lead engineer / Engineering Manager:
• Acts as design authority for the specific engineering disciplines included in the project specific scope of work assigned.
• Close liaison with HV equipment suppliers to ensure engineering integrity and best engineering practice is achieved.
• List, report and address all noted deviations to the engineering specifications, plan and suggest corrective actions

Construction support:-

• Clarifying potential issues or providing solutions to correct engineering errors in cooperation with the LPO Lead Engineer.

Sales:-

• Assists in preparing proposal/presentation of engineering projects (provision of bills of materials, estimated engineering hours, etc.).

Safety:-

• Do not compromise safety standards
• Contribute actively to the safety by design process.

Understanding and implementation of engineering and design process:-

• Understanding of design deliverables required for conceptual and Detailed Design, establishing appropriate level of detail and checking required for each phase.

Equipment design, specification and procurement activities:-

• Correctly describe and suggest materials for different services, environments and applications.
• Competently review and comment on vendor data for a wide range of equipment and packages and incorporation of vendor information into the design.
