Job Description

The People Manager (PM) supports the subcontinent India, Sri Lanka and Middle East (IME) in developing and maintaining DNV’s culture and business goals through professional and consistent HR deliveries throughout the unit. The PM shall advise, challenge, support and partner with the Management Team in HR related matters and is responsible for driving the People strategy and local initiatives and projects.

The PM shall plan, co-ordinate, support, follow-up and improve the HR activities within IME in accordance with the framework in the DNV strategy, budget, the DNV Management system (DMSG) and other instructions given by the Regional People Manager, People Director and Chief People Officer. The PM shall actively promote, support and facilitate the fulfilment of DNV’s Purpose, Vision and Values, Leadership in DNV principles and shall foster a culture of cooperation across the Business Area. The PM shall at, all times have DNV’s best interest in focus.

The PM will be key in supporting the Team with HR reporting, analytics, Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), projects, and other initiatives. The PM will ensure annual HR processes are aligned and consistently delivered.

Part of the HR team of Business Assurance in Asia Pacific, India and Middle East (APAC IME) (certification and training), the People Manager will report to the Regional People Manager, APAC IME.

Main responsibilities include but not limited to:-

  • Development of an employee-oriented company culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, high performance, key employee retention and development, and high performance
  • Monitoring of local legislation and ensure local HR requirements and practices comply
  • Ensure we have plans and routines in place to ensure Health and Safety of the workforce
  • Drive and/or support the implementation of annual Human Resource programs relating to compensation, performance review, talent management, succession planning and employee engagement
  • Partner with management to communicate Human Resources policies, procedures, programs, and laws as well as identifying priority areas to address people related issues with a view to design, plan and implement HR solutions
  • Provide advice and services to managers on HR functional areas related to staffing programs; hiring, compensation, benefits, performance management and people development
  • Provide coaching to line managers on topics related to leadership, team effectiveness and organizational culture
  • Lead HR related projects and initiatives as requested and agreed with People & HSE Director
  • Participate in business, manager level and team forums to understand the business drivers and provide input into future plans of IME
  • Attend business review meetings and represent the HR team in terms of providing updates etc. as well as focusing in on the people agenda for that area
  • Enhance the internal communication by creating a communication plans and by utilizing the variety of communication channels, e.g. Yammer, Open Forums and Town Hall meetings, emails etc.
  • Challenging and supporting line managers on managing people performance, including development, deployment and turnover of individuals
  • Management of people plans and ownership of the recruitment / succession planning activity for the business area (including forecast)
  • Build talent pipeline activity plan, using local resource and networks, identify opportunities to enhance succession pipeline.

Qualification and Experience:-

  • Approximately 5 – 7 years of broad HR experience, ideally in multinational environments, in several HR fields such as change management, HR advisory, compliance, compensation & benefits, recruitments, international assignments, pension & insurance
  • Master’s degree in Human Resource Management or other relevant fields preferred
  • Knowledge of the specific labour market and knowledge and practical application of Compensation & Benefits and labour laws in India, Sri Lanka and Middle East
  • General knowledge of various employment laws and practices along with hands on experience in implementing them at the organization level
  • Experience of working closely with senior stakeholders to gain buy-in and being able to support HR and company initiatives
  • Good understanding of benefits and compensation programs as well as Human Resources recognition and engagement programs and processes
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities concurrently
  • Excellent people and interpersonal skills including ability to “read” people and their contexts
  • Highly collaborative with demonstrative ability to develop and maintain effective and positive working relationships
  • Demonstrated change management experience
  • Proven record of facilitation of team meetings and processes
  • High quality written and excellent oral English communication skills
  • Able to challenge the status quo, think ‘outside of the box and promote innovative ideas
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethics and high work capacity.
  • Able to handle high level of complexity and ambiguity.
