Lead Engineer – WRA

Wind and Site evaluation is a critical step in the Wind Power Plant Sales and Development process for Vestas. The Lead Siting Solutions Engineer will act as the Siting point of contact for all Indian Sales projects. This will involve scoping and reviewing all Siting work performed for Sales projects in the country. At the same time, this position will act as the Siting point of contact for all Indian Development projects. The Lead Siting Solutions Engineer has an important part in identifying and quantifying technical risks of wind power projects, and in generating and capturing value through innovative customised technical solutions.

Responsibilities:-

• Understand the business requirements and develop the Siting assessment accordingly
• Optimize projects through innovative design of Wind Power Plants and best in class wind resource assessments
• Provide wind and solar energy resource assessment and suitability support for Global Development activities
• Develop project specific Wind and Site related technical solutions with VPS specialists where required
• Enable efficient interfaces between Global Development, Sales, Technical Sales, external stakeholders and central R&D functions
• Provide expert level guidance related to turbine siting and optimization and customize technical guidance for each project
• Supervise technical risk through undertaking and interpreting wind turbine loads analysis
• Closely interact with internal and external stakeholders

Qualifications:-

• Masters / Bachelor’s in Mechanical / Machine design / Mathematics / Physics/ Environmental Science/ Meteorology/ Similar specialization
• 8+ years of experience & technical knowledge in wind, siting, ideally PV & GIS
• 8+ years of experience with renewable energy project measurement campaign design, layout design & optimization, energy yield & uncertainty assessments for industrial-scale wind / hybrid power plants
• Experience using wind engineering programs such as WindPRO & wind flow modelling in WAsP and CFD
• Experience with GIS systems and similar software’s
• Defend Vestas Siting results and support efforts to finance Vestas turbines with third party consultants
• Connect R&D to the markets through close interaction with developers and consultants
• Secure order intake by providing technical information and advice to internal and external customers regarding complex technical issues
• Develop team competencies by mentoring and training of other wind and site engineers

Competencies:-

• Good understanding of Project Management practices / high experience of turbine siting optimization
• Advanced knowledge of Vestas WTG operation, theory & loading high market & customer understanding
• Good understanding of Wind Power Economics, high strategic thinking & value creation
• Deep knowledge of industry standards regarding Siting & advanced knowledge of wind data analysis techniques
• Good commercial & contractual insight
• High proficiency in wind flow modelling & good understanding of general power performance testing & processes
• Advanced knowledge of wind measurement equipment
