Lead Engineer Non-Metallic Material

Within the Material and Processes Engineering team, based on his experience and knowledge, lead Engineer non-metallic material ensures the definition and the application of industrial polymer, composite and high-performance adhesive bonding technology for Hydro turbine and generator, participates in the problem resolution and in the definition of innovative solutions, while ensuring business goals, programs, and processes for the Hydro Solution Business.

Essential Responsibilities:-

• Performs technical watch on new non-metallic materials.
• Understand the project challenges and accordingly can validate properties and various polymeric materials available in market. Development of new polymer applications and way of manufacturing components including additive, gluing, adhesive bonding….
• Manages tests and R&D programs on new non-metallic materials, new non-metallic materials process or on new use of those materials, including Test, characterization and qualifications of polymers, composite or adhesive bonding and defining new applications within the business.
• Supports sourcing and engineering in evaluating suppliers and/or subcontractors.
• Gives support and advice to mechanical engineers for choosing and implementing non-metallic materials
• Gives support and advice to workshops’ teams for implementing new material process and capitalizes feedback of experience
• Takes an active part in projects non-conformity solving problems and capitalizes feedback of experience.

Qualifications/Requirements:-

• Graduate / Post-graduate in Industrial Polymer Chemistry or Industrial Chemistry / Plastic Technology or Non-metallic material Engineer or Industrial Manufacturing Engineer with a good knowledge in non-metallic material, Different chemistry of polymers and its influence on end properties and performance.
• At least 5 -10 years of experience in the field of industrial applications of various high-end polymers, especially for engineered plastics and/or high-performance gluing materials.
• Fluent in professional English

Desired Characteristics:-

• Awareness about such products, makes and brands available in market. Basics of structural adhesive bonding including adhesive products selection, surface preparation / application / curing conditions and parameters, testing and qualification,
• Knowledge and skills of polymers composite for structural uses including fabrication methods, selection and suitability of materials, design methods, construction methods, performances, and practical applications,
• Basics of mechanical and Environmental behavior in operation including intrinsic behavior laws and characteristics, aging, durability (immersion, erosion by abrasion, erosion by cavitation, etc.)
• Autonomous
• adaptability,
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to perform inclusively in a diverse environment
• and to promote inclusion and diversity in the workplace
