Infrastructure Design Engineer

The Infrastructure Design Engineer translates architectural/conceptual designs and/or vendor technical specifications to detailed technical design specifications. This role requires deep knowledge on Automating processes, existing task to match with Emerson standard components. It will require to engage stakeholders from all aspects within and outside Ent. IT to insure consistency with overall Emerson architecture, operational and security standards, policies, procedures and direction. Primary goal is to engineer system will be to Automate existing processes and configurations that can be operated in a cost-effective manner while maintaining the appropriate level of availability, performance and security.

The role requires that the incumbent be the  technical lead working closely with other Ent. IT Engineers to deliver strategic solutions that meet business objectives.  The role will engineer solutions utilizing a wide range of technology disciplines  (Database, storage, virtualization, software, etc)

Responsibilities:-

• Design enterprise infrastructure solutions in response to functional requirements that meet capacity and performance criteria.
• Works on multiple simultaneous projects to implement new technologies and configurations.
• Responsible for validation of proposed infrastructure solution and integration methodologies.
• Contributes technical input for the architecting and designing of strategic solutions
• Serves as a technical consultant to divisions on technical solutions.
• Serves as an ad-hoc representative of Global IT Operations in various technical meetings.
• Conducts research, evaluations, develops recommendation and conducts testing related to emerging technologies.
• Develop and maintain detailed system architecture and design documents used for system installation and configuration.
•  Researching, Documenting, and helping implement new features and functionality within the Oracle environments to improve performance and/or stability of the systems.
• Ability to convey the benefits of technology to Technical Service Managers and executives.
• Collaborate with DBA teams to understand challenges and assist with defining tools or processes that will address critical support needs and/or drive automation and efficiencies
• Engineer solutions utilizing expertise in a variety of technologies including Database, Storage, Data Protection, Servers, Virtualization and Software/Applications
• Identify opportunities for automation and implement processes that drive operational excellence and increases resource efficiency
• Deliver automated solutions for the deployment and management of infrastructure hosted within cloud and on-premise environments
• Collaborate with other groups to understand how automation can improve service and business processes. Gather requirements from clients, customers, or end-users to develop the best automation solutions.
• Uses state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment to streamline infrastructure operations activities.
• Troubleshoot and reengineer existing system solutions as needed.
• Assist with the development of Emerson standard build configurations and pricing.
• Participate in various infrastructure related teams, councils, etc. as requested.

Experience Skills:-

• Wide range of systems infrastructure design and implementation experience across a variety of technologies, including Oracle database and applications, storage, servers, data protection, virtualization and software/applications.
• Working knowledge of WAN and LAN technologies including IP, Switches and Firewalls.
• Working experience with programming languages e.g.  Java, Java Script, PowerShell, Bash, C#, Python, Ruby, Ansible
• 5+ years (or 3+ years at Emerson) of progressively increasing technical experience in implementing and/or operating Oracle eBusiness Suite applications and the related technical stack is a must.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively present technical related subjects to all audiences, from the user to the executive level.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to quickly grasp new technologies
• Good troubleshooting/problem solving skills
• Basic financial skills
