Job Description

As Head of Front Office, you’ll report to Vice President-Market Operations, India and would be working with Statkraft Markets which is responsible for commercial activities and operations for Statkraft’s assets/portfolios in India. Statkraft Market’s mandate is to optimize assets revenues, grow, operate, and manage profitable portfolios of structured power transactions and develop business ideas which can be asset backed or risk capital backed. The risk-capital based activity is classified internally as Trading and Origination (T&O). Statkraft Markets is a category-1 Trading License in India and with teams setup with specializations in Deal Origination, Portfolio Management, Market Analysis, Deal Operations, Risk Management, Energy Management, Commercial Project Management and other support/corporate functions. The team works in a cross functional environment with strong links with the local business verticals, including asset and project development teams, and with other commercial teams in the global Statkraft organization.   • This role and position require a candidate who can drive value creation for Statkraft. His/her commercial skills can primarily create attractive business portfolios and revenue (P/L) propositions for Statkraft’s activities in India – for both, production Assets and T&O.
  • The candidate will take commercial ownership of business ideas (be P/L responsible) – develop and operate on Commercial/T&O strategies that is in line with the company’s growth strategy, internal policies and value principles.
  • This person will be required to support/lead the overall business planning processes and in managing the overall business operations as well.
  • While the role requires relevant experience, it also provides a unique opportunity for learning and growth from Statkraft’s commercial & business expertise in Global Energy Markets, including Europe, where the Group has a market leading position in asset activities and power market operations.
  • You are expected to utilize your understanding of the full energy market value chain to derive and execute, analytically and numerically, profitable business ideas. The role is heavily reliant (80%-90%) on a hands-on approach.
  • You will be directly responsible to a 2–3-person strong FO team. The size of the team can be scaled up on business requirements.

Qualifications and Experience:-

We look for experienced personnel with the essential skills and background that includes:

  • 20 years in a commercial role in the power sector, heavily weighted towards power sales/trading and transaction closures in the B2B segment (demonstratable, as leading and originating).
  • Demonstrated ability towards ideation, deal-making, structuring products around electricity, sales, business development, and people leadership responsibilities.
  • Strong expertise and experience in portfolio management and modelling/quant skills, with necessary analytical skills to identify market trends, inefficiencies and opportunities which arise through market design, regulatory changes and other factors.
  • Implement and monitor operational procedures for efficient workflow/deal life cycle.
  • Strong academic background – up to Masters or higher Levels and with very deep exposures to fundamental economic, financial and Quant concepts.
  • Candidates with strong experience in Commodity/Energy/Financial derivative Trading are encouraged to apply as well.
