Engineering Manager – Traction

You will be working as Engineering Manager – Traction and will be part of Motion Business Area for Traction Division based in Bangalore North, India. In this role you will be reporting to Global Engineering Manager and will be responsible for interacting, communicating and working effectively with all internal functions, with the global Traction Engineering team, with customers, and with vendors.

Responsibilities:-

• Being responsible for overall Local Engineering function with leading teams for Electrical, Mechanical, Converter Control and TCMS Engineering
• Teaching, coaching and mentoring your department team leaders and members to enable them for taking responsibility in the project portfolio, support initiatives for integrity and safety
• Leading the design and deployment of power electronic converters for railways applications, like Traction Converter, Auxiliary Converters, Battery chargers and TCMS
• Conceptualizing new designs and translate concepts into Product designs. Designing products in line with project requirements (performance, manufacturability, serviceability, testability, etc.) as per Global Engineering Process
• Being responsible for all design calculations and simulations, ensuring technical knowhow of various topologies and techniques specifically catering to power drive chain in all type of rolling stock equipment’s (like Locomotives, Metros, EMU/DMU/, LRV and E- mobility on-/off-road applications)
• Ensuring quality in all phases of Engineering activities, ensure compliance to customer requirements & standards, and reach design/FAI approvals from customers and authorities
• Collaborating cross-functionally with Sales, Product Management, Global Engineering and R&D, Project Management, Supply Chain and Operations to ensure the right translations of designs to products
• Taking ownership of the products and design revisions and identifying and resolving design issues in the field (product life cycle management)

Qualification And Experience:-

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical/Electronics/Power Electronics Engineering
• Preferably 10+ years of experience in a relevant senior position, at least 5 years of management experience
• Must have sound experience in power electronics, traction systems, rolling stock/railway applications
• Proficiency with design software tools including MATLAB
