Pune, Maharashtra Job Posted : May 30th, 2023 Job Description Mission:- Technical Responsible for the Design and Development of Portable Air products – Air Compressors and Light towers with the most talented & flexible Project teams, develop innovative, modular, reliable & cost-efficient platforms, within targeted budget, performances & deadlines, using Lean engineering principals. To lead a team of Design Engineers & support Laboratory Engineers for prototype tests Targets 2022-2024:- to lead an ambitious plan of New Product Development, striving for double sales, with products providing a significant Modularity improvement, innovation, as well as cost leadership. to work within Lean Engineering organization, reaching half development time and being On-Time, with a customer centric approach (Voice of the Customer). Main responsibilities:- Drive a Quality Pro-active design process:- Use of advanced quality tools/concept like FMEA, MTBF, Qualification plan … to anticipate potential early failures. Use of tools like MS project for good project management and escalation in case needed Design must take in account the Manufacturing constrains, like by using Poka-Yoke to avoid wrong assembly Analyze existing Product & components failures to find more reliable design. By changing only few modules, the complete solution is easier to design and to test, which strive for a higher reliability With highest parts standardization, the reliability increase. Take care of a Superior Quality experience from customer, Aesthetic, which should lead the design towards adapted technological choice, like using painted parts upfront. look & ergonomics, which should influence the shape and accessories in line with Design Language from division Ensure the use of design check list and improve them by lesson learnt. Implement a PDCA process with the experience block concept, to avoid the deeming wheel to roll back. Lead a Quality Reactive design process:- Organize a very quick solution to customer warranty issues on design, especially on new products launch phase. Use a formalized process to identify clearly the claims, then the root cause with 5why, and use Freeplane as fishbone solution mapping. Make a special effort on the execution of the corrective action to be on-time. Measure the reactivity by claim category ABC & find ways to improve the solution lead-time. On-Time Delivery, by a Best in class Project Management:- Define the needed design tasks to develop the project Estimate the time task needs Schedule the project with appropriated resources Follow the execution, and compensate for deviation Deliver on-time project, with expected cost & performance Use of Lean tools, like MS-Project and SharePoint Lead for Obeya daily project team meeting, with visual tracking Lean: chase any of the 7 wastes in Engineering Train the team to Management PMI (scrum for custom design) Make appropriated PCM presentations Ensure a Time-To-Market always shorter, ahead of competition. Lowest cost – Drive the Cost reduction process – CC7:- by providing ideas of cost improvements Adjust the design according to the other department needs to reduce cost The cost benefit from standardization, so a constrain in the creation of new parts must be in place, like remove 2 old parts for 1 new created. Formalize the Design Knowledge Base of the company, using Visual concept:- Strive to lift the application knowledge of our products in our teams Map the technical knowledge & lessons learnt Active in technical Benchmarking, like competition analysis, other PCs performance, Technology Market communication & events Collect Best practices from other PCs Stimulate a Time-To-Technology process to be a leading Innovator, perceived by the customer, with at least 1 new patent per year. Contribute to the feasibility study of new project ideas. Understand how to contribute to the customer sustainability, like diesel-electricity consumption reduction. Lead the Design:- Define a strategy to improve the Team performance, make an appropriated action plan to reach annual targets, and track them via KPI. Make monthly reports (on-time & pertinent) to communicate on trends & on commitment status. Optimize the Planning of employee tasks & use Visual Management principals Adjust the workload by employee and anticipate up-down capacity needs. Ensure team respect law, norm, corporate guidelines (like the way we do things, Business Code of Practice, CSA, Internal Audits), local procedures. Evaluate the individual performance via the Matrix skill & make appraisals. As consequence, define training plan to develop the employee’s competence, and to reach more flexibility. Motivate the Employee to have a good team spirit, taking challenges, generating ideas for improvements & innovation, to be open for quick implementation of changes. Qualification And Experience:- Mechanical Engineer (MBA), master’s in engineering Effective leader with >10 years of R&D and people management experience. Technical knowledge on Pneumatics’ and Hydraulics systems and a good knowledge on Compressors and it’s applications, including all related norms / regulations. Able to write deep technical document and project specifications Good understanding of the supplier fabrication processes, and of the Lean assembly concept, able to design according to manufacturing constrains, like with Poka-Yoke. Very good know-how of the industrial business sector, and market technology trends A clear vision and ability to achieve results from action plans deriving from a solid strategic platform Knowledge Quality concept (FMEA, MTBF …), and Safety requirements Project Management proven record, PMI & Scrum certified would be a +. Able to estimate the time of design tasks needs & to track them. Exposition to International business environment & Large company Fluent in English Use of IT tools like CAD, ERP (BPCS), MS-Excel, MS-Project, SharePoint Marketing & Financial competence, able to contribute to the product drive team, and to select appropriated design according to the targets, like cost.
