Job Description

Supports the Manager Technical Sales in positioning of First Solar’s PV module technology to the customers especially utility scale solar PV asset owners. Needs to have an ability to clearly understand the buyer metrics on module procurement and articulate how First Solar’s technology differentiates against the competition concerning energy yeild, long term quality and reliability.

Part of Global technical sales team to support module product lifecycle. Supports global as well regional technical initiatives for new products. Expert in Solar PV design systems to engage with internal and external stakeholders on BOS design and new initiatives.

Will also be responsible to prepare the energy simulations and energy yield for new project sites to optimize various engineering inputs for plant design.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:-

  • Communicate effectively with customers on First Solar module technology.
  • Create technical specifications for PV plant system design and optimization
  • Develops technical sales collateral to promote bankability and value creation of existing solutions and new product updates.
  • Development of BOS vendors and ecosystem
  • Scrutinize options to optimize BOS cost and develop solutions to address customer requirements and needs.
  • Produce and manage the production of energy estimates for  customer sites and sensitivity analysis.
  • Validate model prediction with measured field data of operating assets.
  • Provide inputs in technical portions of bid documents
  • Promotes technology roadmap and technology credibility to existing and prospective customers via technology exchange workshops, technical publications and industry speaking opportunities.
  • Travel on as-needed basis

Education:-

  •  BE/B.Tech in Engineering. M.Tech qualification in Photovoltaics/Semiconductor will be an added advantage.

Experience:-

  • Minimum 3+ years of professional experience in the PV system design (Mechanical, Electrical)
  • Hands on experience in energy simulation software like PVsyst, PlantPredict, and others.
  • Understanding of PV module certification standards (IEC, BIS) and PV system design standards (IS, NEC).
  • Understanding various PV module technologies.
  • Overall experience of 5 years.

Required Skills:-

  • Experience supporting sales/business development in the technical presentation of grid-integrated Solar PV power plants.
  • Detailed knowledge in the competitive PV module landscape (Silicon, thin-film)
  • Strong presentation and written skills; must be able to communicate and align across multiple cross functions.
  • Experience creating and managing key relationships within targeted customers, laboratories, and independent engineering firms
  • Ability to develop technical collateral and messaging which supports and advances strategic and commercial goals.
  • Ability to evaluate module and system performance predictions, PV system design.
  • Must possess technical knowledge of related engineering systems, equipment,
    engineering calculations, Protection systems and construction methods/materials.
  • Knowledge and application of the current version of the IEC, IS codes.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated self-motivation and aptitude for problem-solving
  • Strong computing skills including MS Office, engineering software / programs, PV Syst etc.

Key Knowledge, Behavioural skills required:-

  • Effective communication skills required and should be able to speak, read, write and understand effective communication in English language. Good Listening skills are requirements to resolve issues with international teams without bias.
  • Constructive questioning, good experience at identifying all the necessary criteria and presenting same for decision making of management The ability to think beyond the boundaries and challenge the status-quo to drive the schedule for deliverables.
  • Sound engineering knowledge and experience to enable effective appreciation of the customer’s requirements and the environment in which the solution will be required to operate.
