Engineer – Supply Chain Emerson Chennai, Tamil Nadu Job Posted : May 28th, 2024 Job Description Responsibilities:- Manage the overall development of key supply chain short- and long-term sourcing strategies for the assigned commodity in India, with alignment to global commodity objectives, to gain the optimum result for the Organization. Coordinate deployment of actions in support of the strategic approach working closely with the Manufacturing Engineering and Supplier Quality Engineering resources. Responsibilities include improving supplier delivery, lead-time, Cost, and total cost of ownership. Develop and implement supply chain strategies to meet manufacturing needs and business objectives. Maintain an in-depth knowledge of global industry activity through close working relationships with suppliers, trade organizations, and market trends. RFQ and Price finalization as per commodity/Supplier strategy for the assigned commodity Identify, coordinate, and track implementation of e-sourcing events. Conducting supplier Business reviews / monthly performance reviews. Manage projects through completion by coordinating technical and commercial reviews with suppliers, Quality Assurance, Engineering and Procurement associates as needed across the business. Meet or exceed desired service levels and inventory targets as defined for the products assigned, validated through procurement metrics by maintaining right purchasing parameter integrity in Site’s business systems (Oracle). Implement core procurement processes efficiently and accurately for assigned products by follow-up from Timely PO release, follow up for order confirmation, for actual status of material for open orders and ensure to dispatch on time and co-ordination for on time payment to supplier Identify and implement cost containment/reduction opportunities. Alternate sourcing, design improvements, part standardization, supplier consolidation, Lead Time Agreement, etc., Manage supplier performance: Track and monitor supplier performance metrics of On Time Delivery, analyze and derive action plans for eliminating the root causes of any delays, which affects the delivery performance, process improvements to reduce lead time etc., Develop and benchmark standard processes among suppliers Education / Experience Required:- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in engineering (Mechanical, Metallurgical, Instrumentation, Electrical & Electronics) required. Expertise in Casting, Forging (closed die / Open Die), machining, Bar parts and experience in rubber, Fasteners, plastic, springs, stampings are a plus. 4 to 6 years’ experience in supplier improvement efforts with demonstrated analytical and communication skills; operations and/or procurement experience preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:- Able to read engineering drawings, understand Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), quality systems requirements and customer specifications. Carry out duties with minimum supervision. Ability to evaluate quotes / pricing. Able to manage and schedule multiple priorities and meet timelines. Possess strong analytical and negotiation skills and ability to work with internal partners & external suppliers. Working knowledge on MRP (Oracle) and MS Office tools Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint Strong presentation skills and better understanding of the process Travel – 25% English required; Multilingual preferred Location:- Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
