Job Description

The role shall focuses on developing cost models and designing solutions for BESS and PSP projects, particularly for renewable energy tenders (FDRE, RTC) and C&I consumers. Responsibilities include bottom-up costing, technology evaluation and LCOE/LCOS analysis for various storage durations and applications. The role involves structuring storage solutions for C&I clients under different models (Open Access, BTM), supporting regulatory teams, and strategic sourcing of BESS components and PSP partners. The lead will also track market intelligence, regulatory developments, engage with stakeholders (government, OEMs, consultants), and provide cross-functional support for bid teams and strategy.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:-

KRA:-

Bottom-up Costing & Solution Design for FDRE, RTC & BESS Tenders

  • Develop detailed bottom-up cost models for:
  • Central & State-level FDRE, RTC, Solar+BESS tenders (SECI, NTPC, NHPC, GUVNL, MSEDCL, etc.)
  • Standalone and co-located battery storage (2hr/4hr/6hr+ BESS)
  • Pumped Storage Projects (PSP) cost benchmarking (CAPEX, OPEX, efficiency, cycle life)
  • Evaluate storage technology trade-offs (Li-ion NMC vs LFP, Flow Batteries, Gravity Storage, PSP, etc.).
  • Model charge-discharge cycles, degradation, augmentation, and lifetime costs for FDRE & RTC bids.
  • Provide LCOE and LCOS analysis to support competitive bid pricing

KPI:-

  • Develop accurate and competitive bottom-up cost models for renewable and storage tenders.
  • Provide detailed LCOE and LCOS analysis to support bid pricing and decision-making.

Storage Solutioning for C&I Consumers

  • Structure battery storage solutions for C&I consumers under Open Access, Behind-the-Meter (BTM), and Hybrid RE+Storage models.
  • Develop cost-effective solutions for peak shaving, demand charge reduction, backup power, and energy arbitrage.
  • Support regulatory teams in structuring projects under Green Open Access, Net Metering, and Storage-as-a-Service (SaaS) models.

KPI

  • Develop tailored and cost-effective battery storage solutions for C&I consumers.
  • Support regulatory alignment for storage projects under relevant market models.
  • Optimize storage configurations for peak shaving, backup power, and energy arbitrage.

EXTERNAL INTERACTIONS

  • Stakeholders in Renewable space (Government agencies and private players, Regulatory bodies etc.

INTERNAL INTERACTIONS

  • CBO, Functions and Departments W/I Renewables.
    Project development and execution teams.

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS:-

  • B.Tech / M.Tech (Electrical, Energy, Power Systems) or MBA (Power Management, Renewable Energy)

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE:-

10–12 years in energy storage (BESS & PSP), cost modelling, techno-commercial structuring, and procurement
