Electromagnetic Environmental Effects Engineer Vestas Chennai, India Job Posted : Dec 2nd, 2024 Job Description Vestas Research & Development (R&D) is where new product ideas are developed, matured, improved, and tested. Within Vestas R&D, you’ll find our department, Product Noise & Electromagnetic Effects. We work on behalf of the product owner (Onshore & Offshore) with the responsibility of developing and maintaining relevant strategies, requirements, technologies, and concepts of our wind turbines within established areas. The team consist of two Sub teams where you will join the Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) team. Our team is responsible for design guidelines, strategies and requirements within the following areas EMC, lightning, Internal power quality (IPQ), Radio Equipment (RED), LV protection, Earthing and grounding. In essence, we ensure robust and compliant design of our products. We are involved in new turbine and technology development. We are establishing an additional branch of our team in our Technology Center Chennai. We are strengthening our focus on predictive product design through simulations, and You will join in the position as Lead Engineer – E3 and will through this role play a key part of improving and introduce simulations as method to enable quality product design – the key focus will be lightning protection and EMC. Responsibilities:- As part of Noise & Electromagnetic Effects team your primary tasks and responsibilities are: Lead and facilitate Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) activities in product specific projects working with design teams Act as subject matter expert within E3 guiding design teams to deliver E3 compliant designs Ensure alignment and generic solutions for all E3 areas across all areas of our products Assisting in the development and maintenance of functional strategies and technology roadmaps for various E3 areas, including: EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility), Lightning Protection, EMF (Electromagnetic Fields), RED (Radio Equipment Directive), Low Voltage Protection, Internal Power Quality (IPQ), Internal Earthing and Turbine Grounding Provide in depth analysis of standard interpretation for stakeholders, customers, and certification Provide guidelines for design, verification and documentation needed for component and system design and certification Qualifications and Experience:- B.Sc or M.Sc in Electrical Engineering or similar field 3-10 years’ experience within at least one of the E3 topics (Eg. EMC, Lightning, Grounding/Earthing) – preferably from the wind industry Experience within all design discipline: Requirement management, System design, Test specifications, Root cause analysis and Certification Solid communicator with great stakeholder management skills Capable of working in a large international organization Competencies:- Methodical and structured way of working Eye for the details with ability to keep the holistic overview Technical leadership including ability to handle stakeholder, coordination, planning, reporting, knowledge sharing etc. Self-motivated committed and a team oriented person Solid communication skills in English both written and verbal Experience with remote teamwork is an advantage Location:- Chennai, India.
