Electrical Specialist (BoP)

Product Management motivates Vestas’ Product Strategy making sure that Vestas always has the right motivated product offerings to stay ahead of competitors. Product Management has a global reach into our sales regions, including responsibility for technical sales and bid management, Wind & Site Engineering, and Balance of Plant Engineering. Your role is to support the global markets for Wind and hybrid power with electrical BoP design and modelling, plant grid interconnection studies and grid code compliance.The PSC team consists of both senior expertise from transmission system operators, highly skilled academia and long industry background. This position is placed in Chennai, India.

Responsibilities:-

• The electrical Balance of Plant (eBoP) specialist is responsible for undertaking the conceptual design and general cost performance optimization of the electrical scope of works for all on-shore wind, off-shore wind, storage and hybrid projects involving substation, cables, collector system, generators, transformers and other OEM aspects.
• The Electrical BoP specialist will work closely with the highly skilled PSC team located in Chennai and with all regional power plant solution teams, technical bid management groups, customers and other relevant stakeholders for the productive implementation of balance of plant solutions.
• Understand/develop technical specifications, review scope of work along with grid codes and propose cost effective BoP solutions whilst ensuring the high quality and safety standards of Vestas.
• Review and critically evaluate regional goals and produce evaluation reports with recommendations.
• Negotiate to achieve high customer value and offer technical solutions best in the market.
• Provide technical support and train the other team members and projects/development projects as and when required.

Qualifications:-

• B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering /Masters in power systems / PhD with 10+ years of demonstrated technical accomplishments professional experience in the power and energy domain.
• Experience in high power industry or in the eBoP works associated with renewable energy projects
• Have a previous experience with planning and designing eBoP systems, HV projects and be motivated to work within renewable power plants R&D.
• Possess a solid understanding of concepts like renewable power plant design, system definition & analysis
• Good understanding of tendering documentation, evaluations, scoping, planning, design, costing, construction and commissioning associated with substations/eBoP aspects of renewable projects
• Have a general knowledge of wind power plants, SVCs, STATCOMs, diesel/gas-gensets, synchronous condensers and other emerging main electrical components for hybrid renewable power plants.
• Solid project management and contract management skills and knowledge
• Have worked on Tech Specs and project documentation as a good to have
• Worked on R&D projects following stage-gate development processes .
• An understanding of hybrid power plants, their design and grid interconnection
• Worked with Grid operators, Power generators, Utilities, Grid consulting companies, or eBoP components manufacturers etc.
• Experience using the major power system simulation tools such as Power Factory, PSS/E and PSCAD.
• Been working in a team utilizing Agile processes.
