Electrical Engineer Dept – GFS

Burns & McDonnell India has exciting opportunities for Electrical Engineers interested in growing their careers in one of the most fast paced, innovative companies for high tech building design and construction. Burns & McDonnell India is establishing a team focused on mission-critical datacentre projects! Project focus would be data centres and telecommunications facilities but could include a variety of other facilities including pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, manufacturing, airports, or institutional facilities in the US.

Burns & McDonnell India is looking for a young and energetic candidate to join our Global Facilities Group in Mumbai office to support electrical design activities involved on mission-critical datacentre projects mainly in USA. This candidate will lead design, planning and client coordination activities associated with high, medium and low voltage electrical distribution and control systems found in mission critical, healthcare, and industrial sites.

Responsibilities:-

• Specific areas of responsibility include the following:
• Designing electrical systems/equipment to provide for a useful and safe workplace
• Advise clients regarding electrical systems/requirements available to meet their needs and comply with safety codes.
• Monitor installation of designed equipment/systems to ensure compliance with design specifications and safety codes.
• Participate in developing the design criteria for protective device coordination, relay applications, medium voltage transformers, switchgear, medium and low voltage distribution.
• Reviews electrical designs and specifications of equipment or systems being purchased or fabricated.
• Conducts fault studies, arch flash, harmonic analysis, motor starting and load flow analysis. Develop design criteria for protective device coordination, relay selection, medium voltage transformers, switchgear, medium and low voltage distribution.
• Perform independent design calculations for electrical equipment like transformers, DG sets, cables (HV &LV), lighting, grounding, AC/DC UPS, NGR and capacitor sizing.
• Provides electrical design direction and resource management on multi-discipline projects
• Developing concept studies, designs, detail single line diagram (SLD) for HV/LV systems, layouts for power / grounding / lighting and narratives.
• Enforces standards and practices.
• Work with a Senior electrical engineering in supporting design activities on the project.

Qualifications & Skillset:-

• Possess knowledge of all applicable standards and codes
• AutoCAD, BIM (Revit), and Strong computer skills necessary to accomplish electrical designs.

Software Skills:-

• SPELL, ETAP / SKM and Dialux / Visual
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Minimum Education:-

• Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from a recognized institute.

Minimum Experience:-

• 3 years of experience in the design, installation and maintenance of electrical distribution systems.
• A working knowledge of control systems and fundamental communication interfaces
• Demonstrated abilities as a project discipline lead
• Data centre or telecommunication facility experience
• Knowledge of critical facility design and infrastructure
• Sound understanding of NFPA 70 (NEC), 70E, 75, 101, 780 and other applicable sections and standards like IEEE and IEC
