Distribution And Solar Mini Grid Specialist (NOC) International Solar Alliance Gurgaon, Haryana Job Posted : Sep 11th, 2023 Job Description Reporting to the Chief of Unit (PPIC) or a designated officer, this role will lead the implementation tasks across the geographies where ISA is mandated to program implementation outcomes. This role will underpin technical assistance, targeted interventions, capacity building, and transactional support to advance ISA’s programmatic support to ISA’s member countries. The role will also support the Chief of the Unit with the conceptualization, planning, designing, and implementation of ISA’s program and projects across the ISA member countries through engaging with a broad range of senior stakeholders. Responsibilities:- Support ISA with its strategic vision and plan for the PPIC unit, including the delivery roadmaps with clearly identified interdependencies. Enable expanded end-user connection and be responsible for managing and supporting Grid Access Acceleration work across the designated regions (working with focus country distribution agencies). Ensure all deliverables are delivered well within the agreed deadlines Take full accountability for managing and driving program(s)/ individual projects Ensure that Programme implementation (Solar Mini-grid) is completed efficiently, effectively, and with value for money as per the approved Work Plan. Support the solar power distribution program and all related regulatory/ policy work in consultation with the member country governments and other development partners Enable the electrification planning and optimisation program within the mandated regions Support ISA with its planning and financing of the solutions for distribution infrastructure. Provide active input into the ISA’s efforts to improve the “ease and affordability of the solar mini-grid end-user connectivity. Promote quality standards, harmonization, and synergy with other divisions across ISA, for instance, for disseminating recommended practices (solar mini-grid) Take responsibility for developing a knowledge system to synthesize lessons learned and best practices of policy and program relevance. Any other specific tasks and responsibilities assigned by the Chief of the Unit, Assistant Director- General and Director-General of ISA Qualification And Experience:- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degree) in Engineering, including Energy Management, Public Administration A bachelor’s degree with an additional 2 years of experience may also be considered. Minimum of 5 to 7 years in the energy sector, focusing on distribution. 10+ years preferred Experience implementing distribution and mini-grid densification strategies within ISA’s mandated regions, working with distribution utilities, government ministries, and regulators. Experience working in a similar context in the SIDs/LDCs region Previous experience (including conducting technical activities) within the development sector and/or with donor agency programs preferred Strong organizational and interpersonal skills and ability to solve complex problems Ability to write, communicate, and prepare engagement materials fluently in English. Languages & IT skills:- The role demands substantial writing and verbal communication skills. As English is the official and working language of the Organization, excellent command of both written and spoken English is required.
