Deputy General Manager – Production & Manufacturing

Perform the daily operations of plants to ensure reliability and consistency on the production line. Includes Service Shops. Impacts approaches, projects and programs in the functional area or affected business organization and ways of working. Impacts quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team. Has significant input into priorities. Guided by professional practices and policies that are shaped by the role. The role has moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment.

Role:-

• Manage production and manufacturing operations in order to reach defined targets in safety, quality, delivery and cost .
• Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development, and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
• Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
• Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
• Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.

Sphere of Ownership & Responsibility:-

Safety:-

• Achieve highest safety levels in the plant. Establish Safety as the most important culture.
• LPRs, Genba walks to persistently deliver risk free atmosphere for the team and visitors. Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.

Control and compliance:-

• Material Ordering process control, in-order to keep WIP at minimum.
• Demonstrate high standards of integrity in all aspects of operations.
• Maintain min max of Consumable and spares to ensure production continuity.
• Establish Tool management and equipment maintenance, Utilization of resource, Equipment.
• Manage budgeting processes for manufacturing and production.

Customer & Quality:-

• Establish customer relations to listen, learn and address challenges.
• Lead planning activities to ensure production schedule adherence and customer satisfaction, and customer feedback to ensure high levels of satisfaction.
• Develop / implement creative solutions to customer impact prioritized product design improvements.
• Track and resolve prioritized product design quality and cost out projects in a timely manner
• Develop proactive, product quality improvements and resolve existing quality issues. Establish fool proof procedures to arrest and eliminate defects through hierarchy of control.

Team:-

• Coordinate and provide technical, quality and production leadership to assigned Cells / Teams.
• Tooling & fixture design for assembly & test, write specification for outsourcing tooling/fixture.
• Coaching team members including Production associates. Elevate teams on the ground of ownership, accountability and empowerment. Establish performance metrics and conduct regular evaluations.
• Practice sound human relations and communications skills to motivate the assigned workforce
• Mentor, train, and motivate new team members through training initiatives

Lean:-

• Establish the culture of Lean and drive sustenance by influencing, collaborating and communicating with employees at all levels.
• Implement and execute 5S programs, Lean events, Kaizen events, Root cause analysis. Drive knowledge building campaign on the shop.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational performance. Encourage goal setting among teams to continually improve the processes on the basic elements of SQDC.

Reporting:-

• Analyze operational data to enable decision-making and strategy adjustments.
• Eliminate duplications in reporting and establish seamless flow of information on a timely manner.
• Implement and improve tools(Safety tools, ERP, Quality, Scheduling etc) to enable smooth operations with a touch of simplification.

Required Qualifications:-

• This role requires significant experience in the Manufacturing & Operation Management. Knowledge level is comparable to a Master’s degree from an accredited university or college
• A Minimum of 12+ Years Experience in manufacturing and production.

• Ability to work within a cross functional team and influence decisions
• Prior experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) / Design for Assembly (DFA)
