Chief Engineer – Lead Acid Batteries

Schneider Electric is looking for a Chief Engineer for Lead Acid Batteries for its Energy Storage Center of Excellence (CoE). SE’s Energy Storage CoE enables company’s growth through the development of innovative energy storage products that are battery technology-agnostic, scalable, cost-effective, and manufacturable.

The Chief Engineer will be responsible for developing or updating the specifications of lead acid battery packs  requirements for various applications such as UPS and  Energy Storage. This will require the Chief Battery Engineer to interface with global  teams in technolog, quality, souricng, supply chain… In addition the Chief Engineer will also be responsible to streamlining the qualification of lead acid batteries by working closely with partners.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:-

• Translate application requirements into battery requirements
• Review battery supplier specifications
• Develop test plans and procedures, identify hardware needs, and design test set-ups for battery platform validation
• Lead battery platform FMEA activities
• Support Lines of business in successful adoption of batteries
• Support global supply chain in supplier development and management

Qualification And Experience:-

Basic Qualifications:-

• Bachelor’s in engineering or science.
• 15 years of experience with batteries

Preferred Qualifications:-

• Master’s or Ph.D. in engineering or science.
• 10+ years of experience with Lead Acid batteries.
• Understanding of different types of battery technologies, their performance, and characteristics
• Experience in developing specifications and requirements for battery modules and packs/racks
• Experience in developing battery modules and packs/racks by working with mechanical, thermal, electrical, FW/SW, and testing engineers.
• Experience with safety, compliance, and regulatory standards
• Customer-focused with good relationship building and communication skills.
• Battery product development experience
• Experience in project planning and tracking.
• Experience working in diverse cultural situations with global customers and team members.
• Design for Six Sigma certification.
• Bilingual in English/Chinese.
• Ability to travel 15-25% domestic and International.
• Excellent written and oral communication
• Demonstrated excellence in analytic, strategic and critical thinking
• Problem solving
• Skilled at influencing without authority.
• Being able to “think out of the box”
• Systems thinking with outstanding collaborative skills
• Excellent negotiation skills.
