BESS HVAC & FPS Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) HVAC Fire Protection Design Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and development of HVAC and fire protection systems specifically for BESS installations. This role requires a deep understanding of HVAC systems, fire protection engineering, and the unique requirements and challenges of BESS.

Responsibilities:-

Design and Development:-

• Design HVAC systems tailored for BESS installations, including load calculations, system sizing, equipment selection, and layout planning.
• Develop fire protection systems, including fire detection and suppression, specifically designed to address the hazards associated with battery energy storage systems.
• Create detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and design documents using industry-standard design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).

Technical Analysis:-

• Perform detailed thermal and ventilation analyses to ensure optimal operating conditions for battery storage systems.
• Conduct fire risk assessments and hazard analyses to develop effective fire protection strategies.
• Evaluate and select appropriate materials, equipment, and technologies for HVAC and fire protection systems.

Compliance and Standards:-

• Ensure all designs comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry standards (e.g., NFPA, ASHRAE).
• Keep up-to-date with advancements in HVAC and fire protection technologies and integrate best practices into designs.
• Prepare and review documentation to support regulatory approvals and certifications.

Collaboration and Coordination:-

• Work closely with other engineering disciplines, project managers, and clients to ensure integrated and cohesive system designs.
• Participate in project meetings and provide technical expertise on HVAC and fire protection matters.
• Coordinate with construction teams to support the implementation of designs and resolve any issues that arise during installation.

Quality Assurance:-

• Conduct design reviews and inspections to ensure adherence to project specifications and quality standards.
• Provide technical support and guidance during the commissioning and startup phases of projects.
• Perform post-installation evaluations to ensure system performance meets design intent and operational requirements.

Qualifications And Experience:-

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 4 to 8 years of experience in HVAC and fire protection design engineering, with specific experience in BESS preferred
• Proficient in HVAC and fire protection design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, HAP).
• Strong knowledge of industry standards and codes (e.g., NFPA, ASHRAE).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:-

• Experience with battery energy storage systems and renewable energy projects.
• Knowledge of battery chemistry and associated fire risks.
• Familiarity with environmental and safety regulations related to battery storage.
