Job Description

Associate Tech Lead will work as part of the Electrical Engineering team and have responsibility for the design and development of Electrical Subsystems for various product lines (New Product Developments (NPD), Quality improvement and Productivity projects).  The role will have strong focus on new technologies, processes and applying these technologies to various product lines.

Responsibilities:-

  • Design and Development of Electrical/Electronic solutions for HVAC & Transport Refrigeration systems, working in conjunction with internal Subject Matter Experts (SME) and external experts, delivering solutions that meet all project scope requirements, including Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Service (DFS).
  • Development, implementation, and coordination of component / system validation plans in R&D test facilities in conjunction with the Test and Reliability teams, using systematic methodology, such as DFMEA and performance modeling.
  • Create detailed documentation of Electrical / Electronic components, including detailed specification drawings and Application Specification Documents.
  • Design and Development of High Voltage Battery packs, Low voltage battery backs such as Li-ion, Lead acid, Ni-MH, NI-Cd, Battery management systems.
  • Should have knowledge and exposure in developing renewable energy sources such as Solar systems, Fuel cell systems.
  • Should have knowledge and exposure in developing Power electronics components such as Converter, inverter, Battery Chargers, MPPT controllers.
  • Should have good understating on power conversion topology and able to analyze the performance through simulation approach
  • Co-ordination of any required regulatory testing of Electrical / Electronic solutions at external agencies, including HALT (Highly Accelerated Life Test), EMC (Electro Magnetic Compatibility) testing, as required per regulatory standards
  • Knowledge and ability to work within New Product Development (NPD) Process, with innate understanding of documented prerequisites and Milestone deliverables.
  • Liaison with Controls & Software Development groups to develop software and Controls Algorithms for different product units.
  • Should have exposure in developing Electrical component models for Battery, power converters using Matlab/ Dymola Platform.
  • Develop and manage supplier partnerships with current and prospective new suppliers, working closely with vendors to develop and deliver solutions.
  • Knowledge of relevant electrical safety standards and protocols applicable to mobile AC/DC voltage systems.
  • Identify new design / innovative ideas for current and future product design architectures.
  • Identify industry trends and standards in the HVAC, automotive, Electrification domain in the area specifically related to High Voltage DC systems, Battery, Solar, Fuel cells, motors, Power Electronics Components and Hybrid Drive Systems
  • Degree in an Electrical / Electronic / Controls Engineering discipline
  • Approximately 8-10 years of experience in design and manufacturing in the industrial, or automotive industry desired.
  • Self-motivated, willing to take initiative, able to function effectively in independent and team-based situations.
  • Must be adept at report writing and presenting technical information to a wide audience.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills required with good interpersonal skills, able to express concepts and ideas with clarity.
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Hands-on experience on testing and Measurement Equipment’s, Modelling, Circuit Simulation and System Simulation Tools.
  • Onsite Experience in US or EU is Preferred
  • Position is based in Bangalore

Essential skills:-                                                        

  • Experience in Product Development and Electrical Systems development as per Marketing Requirement Document (MRD), Product Requirement Document (PRD) and Regulatory Requirements (RR)
  • Prior Experience of component qualification programs and new product development in an automotive/ machinery environment is a distinct advantage.
  • Understanding of different battery chemistries technology, Failure modes of different battery technologies, Charge, and discharge characteristics of different battery technologies.
  • Battery capacity requirement calculation based on the load requirement and back up requirements, Understanding of Battery Normal C rates and Peak C rates.
  • Understanding on Solar cell technologies and should have prior experience/knowledge in Integration and development for different applications.
  • Should have exposure to High Voltage DC systems and relevant standards.
  • Good Design knowledge on Power electronics components like High power AC-DC, DC-DC converters, SMPS Magnetics design and selection.
  • Good knowledge on Power components such as MOSFETs, IGBT’s, Power Diodes and GATE drivers.
  • Experience in modeling Battery, converter, inverter using MATLAB or DYMOLA simulation platform.
  • Good Knowledge on Control loop design like PI and PID loops
  • Experience in developing components like sensors, power converter, inverter, batteries, solar system, Fuel cell system and knowledge of Analog circuits, Protection circuits, Controller hardware is an advantage.
  • Knowledge and experience of control systems and software testing and debug an advantage.
  • Ability to manage critical product cost and new product development projects with team members and partners spread across global locations.
  • Capable of developing and executing test plans, interpreting test data, and developing and driving relevant corrective measures where necessary.
  • Previous experience in New Product Development (NPD) process, DFMEA, 6 Sigma, are desirable.
  • Knowledge in PLM and Windchill is an advantage.
